Dunham Forest result

Through blood, sweat and tears, Stamford Golf have qualified to take part in the ALL finals day for the Dunham forest trophy on Saturday 19th September. As per my recent Newsletter highlighting our journey so far, our quest to reclaim the coveted Trophy for the first time in 35 years is STILL ON!!!

Quarter finals

Having been drawn away for the first time this year, it was never going to be easy. To win 4 matches out of 7 against Crompton & Royton Golf Clubs elite players on their home soil was always going to be difficult. However, the development of youth at Stamford Golf Club is beginning to pay off. Three of our key players have recently come through the junior section of the club, and I believe this is the key to our journey so far. Well maybe of course the return of Andy Bent who boasts a flawless record in the Dunham matches helps too.

The quarter finals was played in Great Spirit, in great conditions on a very fair golf course with all credit to the Crompton & Royton Golf Club Greens committee and Staff. A final score line that read Crompton & Royton 3 Stamford Golf Club 4 by the final Green.

Team selection was difficult for Team Captain Tony Hales, having many golfers' eager to take part and be part of making History. Myself, Andy Bent, Taylor Yates, Josh Ainscough, Chris Houf, and Kev Duffy & Spencer Yates was the final selection, and the pick was good enough to outplay the opponents and set us on the road to DFGC on Saturday 19th September.

The All-finals day I believe is a superb day out, with open gates for spectators Free of charge, so have a think of coming to support your club in an attempt to make history.

Gents Autumn Open - September 20th
