The Grim Reaper
There has been a serious issue with the Grim Reaper this weekend.
Ian Grimsditch has turned out for the shop competition on Sunday making the only two of the day as well as finishing in top position with a very respectable 40 points.
The Grim reaper took no prisoners! After not only taking 100% of the 2's sweep he also ended up snatching the top prize too.
Watch out this coming Sunday golfers', he's about again!
The Bogey Man
If the last story hasn't turned you white, wait until you read the rest of this one. Russell Lodge made his tournament golf debut earlier this season after deciding to make a commitment to play regular golf as a member of a club. After receiving his first handicap and managed to land one of the most valuable competitions of the year, the Lombard Pro Am qualifier. The Bogey man decided he wanted to go one better than that, and this weekend managed to scribe his name into the walls of Stamford Golf Club winning his first Major competition, the Wood Bowl.
The event being a bogey competition, Russell managed to better the course by 7 and lead the field by 2 holes. Russell said
"Mark I owe this win to you, your advice about my driver has helped me turn my weakness to a strength. I was struggling to hit fairways, now I am struggling to miss them and I'm hitting it a long way too. I'll never shop at a golf superstore again."
I played with Russell in the Lombard Trophy pro/am qualifier. Russell had recently been sold a driver from a golf superstore which I can only describe as some bad advice. Coincidently my dad had a driver which I believed would suit Russell, so he decided to give it a try…. The rest is history.
Russell, you're welcome.
He's watching you
Congratulations to Paul Barlow after gaining his Level 2 Rules qualification. Paul was recently asked to Referee at the Lancashire boys under 16's championships at Penwortham on 27th July.
He had to make one ruling against a player for slow play, which resulted in no penalty.
The event was won by Oliver Ravenscroft with a nett score 66 and runner up was local boy Luke Kelly with a nett 68. His next job is assessing the CSS of local golf courses for the county.
Well done Paul, best of luck for the future.
From me, happy golfing until next week, and don't have nightmares, sleep tight.
