Get fitted
This week, it has been a pleasure to work with one particular member who shall remain nameless. He requested help with his wedge game, to fill in the gaps in his bag to offer him some consistency in his yardages, along with a detailed explanation of what affects the bounce has on a wedge and how it can help you.
He walked away with 2 customised Vokey Nickel wedges, bent to his specific requirement with a detailed explanation of how to get the most from them by using the bounce correctly.
Sunday Shop comp result - 12th July 2015
We have received some extraordinary scores in recently in the Sunday shop competition, most recently Mark Davies posting an unbeatable 44 stableford points, while Brian Thomas the week before posted a personal best of 48 points both managing to top the leaderboard. Albeit the competition is played from the Yellow blocks, its never easy to manage scores like these and both players ought to be recignised for their achievements. Congratulations and long may the good for continue guys.
Matthew Nixon
It has been an extraordinary journey so far for the Droylsdonian, attached at local club Ashton under Lyne. Half way through his 5th year on the European tour, the once maestro now an experienced young man on the European tour is beginning to show some extremely good form.
His latest result being 22nd in the Aberdeen Asset management Scottish Open held at Gullane, East Lothian last week. Collecting a very healthy sum of 46,090 euros. That moved Matt up the Race to Dubai leaderboard into 107th position, and back on track for bigger achievements in the future.
His recent surge in form coincides with a change of coach although Matt doesn't only put this down to his success.
"I needed a change of direction, something new and different from what I have been working on. I kept hitting it left, but it was uncontrollable, I didn't know when it was going to happen, and that is not a nice feeling when you are under the pressure of protecting your livelihood out here. Mike gave me one drill to work on and it clicked instantly, although I did still hit it left on one hole which resulted in a lost ball."
"My old coach Alan has been inspirational to me from being a boy, he has taught me from a very young age and helped me get to where I am today. He's been a great roll-model, coach and friend to me"
The Open Am-Am
It's finally here, the Open Championship. The biggest golfing event of the year and it returns to the home of Golf, St Andrews. Who will you be backing? Will Jordan Spieth make it three majors in a row or will Louis Oosthuizen use his famous red dot again to block out any negative thoughts and land himself the claret jug for a second time?
Either way, at Stamford Golf Club we will be staging our biggest golfing event of the the year, The Open Am-Am. The 4 man team event managed by Tony Smith (Pro Shop) is once again at its maximum, promising to deliver a great golfing experience for everyone involved.
Wednesday Stablefords
Today we stage our second to last 18 hole stableford of the season, with the last one being next Wednesday the 22nd July. Thereafter the Wednesday stablefords will return to 12 hole competitions played from the yellow blocks, with a handicap allowance of 2/3rds.
