Brian Thomas

He may be a relatively new member, but he isn’t afraid of taking the limelight. Brian took advantage of all 20 shots on Sunday in the Winter League, dropping just 12 shots over 18 holes. His weekly playing partner in Marbella, Brian saw the opportunity to make up ground on League leader Paul Traynor. Paul's closest challenger, Steve Finan, however finished in 2nd place with yet another solid round of golf, collecting 40 points to work 15 points closer to the top of the leader board.

With just 3 weeks left, has Steve left it too late or will Iain Starkie strike form and take glory from Paul Traynor? Watch this space for more updates.

Captain's Drive -In

It was a successful Captain's drive in for John Sharples, after he was voted in as Club Captain at the AGM on Friday Night. He has taken over from Roy Cunningham who stood down after a successful year. Outgoing Ian Trow was replaced by Ian Horton as President, and thanks go to all officials for their commitment over the last 12 months. Sheila Bates stepped in as the new Lady Captain last week too, after Sandra Johnson finished her year in office. Congratulations and best wishes for a very successful year to both Captains & Presidents.

The Captains drive-in competition however was won by Jordan McClusky & playing partner Dale Ainscough. Played as a betterball stableford over 12 holes, the pair managed a -4 par gross score to accumulate 32 points to claim victory.

Josh Ainscough

Congratulations to Junior star Joshua Ainscough. A recent recommendation and a successful interview has landed him the Assistant Professional position at local Club Dukinfield. Josh starts his first day of employment on March 12th, an opportunity he has been dreaming about for several years.

Good luck Josh, I’ll look forward to shaking your hand on the first tee of a PGA event, just don’t knock it past me!

The old trolley store, as most of you will know, has recently had a face lift, as we aim to be giving indoor swing analysis to you eager golf enthusiasts. We will be offering a warm, personal 1-2-1 experience for swing analysis, club gapping, practice facility or golf simulator.

This will be club fitting to the finest degree with the option of hitting balls down a virtual driving range or maybe you will fancy 18 holes around the Brabazon Golf course at the Belfry?
