The high pressure we were promised has brought along some much needed dry weather conditions. Ideal for drying out the course given the wettest winter on record since national records began. As the picture shows, some torrential rain has given us near unplayable conditions.
Albeit the fairways are now taking shape and the smell of cut grass is apparent in the air. The countdown has begun to the US Masters at Augusta National, less than 30 days away. Daffodils are making their presence too on the entrance to the golf club, again suggesting summer will soon be upon us.
Saturday Betterball Stableford - 8th March
Saturday's Betterball competition was our second event of the spring played over 15 holes. Some very good scoring was put together given the reasonable conditions on the day. Congratulations to Dave Barton and playing partner John Grainger
Dave Barton and John Grainger - 41pts
John White and Trevor Hulton - 40pts
Richard Margrave and Phil Mellor - 40pts
T. Hales and S. Fletcher - 40pts
A very rewarding 2's return of 14 balls per 2!
Sunday Shop Comp - 9th March
In the meantime, once again the Sunday shop competition is developing in numbers going from strength to strength. Another well supported competition took place on Sunday, only this time it was played over 18 holes, the first full course we have played this year!
Last week the 1st of our new newsletter headers was dedicated to Dave Boote for his Hole in One on the 4th hole. This week it's the same headline, but this time we've experienced 2x Hole in ones' - both in the Sunday Shop Competition. Mr. Barry Dickinson aced again on the 4th and Dave Walker on the 6th hole. Needless to say there was a healthy splash of whiskey knocking about in the Clubhouse on Sunday.
The winner of the event was Paul Zrada and rightly so with a staggering 41 points over 18 holes.
Congratulations chaps
