Manchester Alliance

Progress and process are the two words I will use for this weeks’ performance in the Manchester Alliance. This week we visited Warrington Golf Club which was like playing golf in the middle of September, not forgetting the date was actually 19th November. Once again I started well with my own individual score, reaching -3 after 13 holes with 2 par 5’s to play. My final score of -2 kind of sums up my finish although it was good to give myself another chance.

However, in the Pro Am pairing this week my playing partner Ian Trow (Mr. President) took advantage and bettered my score on 7 holes giving us a show stopping score of 45 points. That was matched by locals Dave Green (Dukinfield Golf Club) and his playing partner Paul Crisp. We managed to finish tied 2nd from the winning pair making 46 betterball stableford points.

Captains v Presidents

This weekend will see the traditional 12 hole matchplay competition (Captains v’s Presidents) – with a shotgun start at 13:00.

As always, the losing team pay for supper with a stand up explanation from each losing pairing after the meal. It’s a great afternoon of entertainment with an added twist with the comical speeches.
