Woof Woof
Many of you will remember last years’ Captains charity was Guide Dogs for the Blind. We have recently received an update of Stamford's progress. Stamford is the name of the dog we managed to raise enough money for to fund. He was named after our club for all of the fund raising we managed to help with his development.
Stamford is now 6 months old and half way through his training with Puppy walkers Margaret & David.
A report from Margaret gives credit to Stamford for his speedy development and we’re told he isn’t fazed about any challenges he has faced so far. He is developing very well with big floppy ears and attracts alot of attention from locals. He isn’t disturbed by strange noises although he is easily distracted by the helicopter overhead recently. He has recently been fitted with his high visibility training jacket giving others a clear indication that he is a guide dog in training.
He sounds a credit to the members of this club and long may he have a happy future helping others.
I’m getting closer
This week the Manchester Alliance took to the fairways of Stand Golf Club in Whitefield, Manchester. My playing partner this week was James Woodcock who contributed to the team card early doors but his form slipped on the back 9 and we managed to finish with a respectful 43 points. My individual score of 40 points was nearly good enough to take the best Pros individual score until Steve Parry of Hart Common returned a 67 gross score giving him 41 points to claim victory by one shot.
In the Pro Am pairing, Assistant Pro & playing partner Martin Dwyer managed to accumulate 45 points and claim 3rd place on a card play-off from the runners up.
