Winter League update At the moment and at a glance, anyone would think the 2017/18 Winter league has developed into a 2 horse race. Taking a closer look, that isn’t quite the case, but for now and after week 10 of the series, we have 2 players out in front in Paul Traynor & our most recent league leader and yellow jersey holder (once again) Steve Moores. The words ‘Off the block’ was Steve’s 42 points playing to 17 summer greens was quite remarkable, but the red head from Oldham did say he would regain the Jersey, however he isn’t totally confident he will keep hold of it for the duration of the league. “There are a number of players who have 2, 3 & 4 games in hand that could make a charge in the closing stages. While the league looks good for me at the moment, I need to just focus on improving my weakest scores.” – Steve Moores Congratulations to Nick Rabbeth as he took the top prize for week 10. Nick accumulated 45 points to claim victory by 3 points and position himself nicely in the league with games in hand. Certainly a challenger for the leaders as we pass the halfway stage.
A maahoooooosiivee 2! Check this out... Saturday 13th Jan was a singles stableford and as per our usual weekly routine, the head green keeper called into the shop on Friday afternoon to arrange the 12 hole course layout for Saturday. Those 12 holes consisted of just 2 par 3’s which lead me to my article. In a 113 man field playing only 2 par 3’s, just one player managed to make a 2. Gareth Chadwick actually claimed more prize money than all three divisional winners put together with a total of £169.50!
