Tread carefully The month of March saw the club match play entries pouring in. The singles format played under the new(ish), FULL handicapping rules has made for some interesting results since it was introduced. Historically 3/4 handicap was expected, but on Sunday 10th July Mr Alan Booth & Andy Bent shook hands on the first extra hole with victory for Mr. Bent. Let's not dismiss Alan who was 2 up with 2 to play receiving a shot on 17 & 18... and if that wasn't enough, he had another shot on the first extra hole. I mean, who wouldn't have shots on all those holes playing against Andy Bent?! All credit to Andy though, a good player will always give 100% and with a reputation like Andy's, it ain't over til' its over. I think Alan learnt a valuable lesson on that day, after being in such a promising position and getting beat. It must have felt like he'd fallen off his ladder! Well played for taking the game to the end, Alan Elsewhere in round 3 saw Anthony Cavanagh make his way into the quarter finals with a 3&1 victory over hopeful Chris Exton. Sunday result
He's been knocking on the door a lot recently but young maestro Tom White has this weekend managed to complete a strong back 8 to win on a card play off from 3 other players. His 40 points consisted of 18 points front 9 and a staggering 22 on the back 9, playing off a handicap of 22.
