Hello everyone,
I trust you are all well. This week I start my newsletter with a little story...are we sitting comfortably?
Eddie Tapper and the Onion Bhaji
One upon a time in a little village called Carrbrook lived a gentleman called Eddie Tapper. Eddie was a lovely chap, very fond of his friends and spent a lot of time around two of his favourite hobbies, cooking & the game of golf. Eddie wasn't a shy chap, he liked to share his love for cooking, sometimes bringing Fresh homemade Vegetable Curry to the clubs golf professional.
One Saturday Eddie was introduced to two new golfing pals. One who went by the name of Richard Margrave. Mr. Margrave was also a chap very fond of the game of golf, who coincidently had a love for FOOD. However, the biggest problem Richard faced was INDIGESTION. That Saturday Eddie had brought a portion of his very special homemade Onion Bhaji's to the course. Intending to share with his golfing pals, but Richard managed to refuse kindly due to his long term suffering, particularly from such food. Eddie on the other hand was adamant, he want his pals to taste his mini treats. He wasn't prepared to have stayed up all night preparing these crispy little onion balls, for them to go to waste.
"Here you go Richard, try them, they're lovely" said Eddie.
After not much persuasion, Richard rolled one of these homemade crispy onion balls down his throat. What happened next could not have been predicted. Richard had a par. He followed that up with another par, followed by a birdie. Focusing so much on the indigestion, Richard progressed through the following 6 holes with another 4 pars and two birdies, totalling 6 pars & 3 birdies. Richard managed to top the leaderboard in the clubhouse and win the competition.
The week after, Eddies group of friend multiplied and Eddie & the onion bhaji were born.
The End.
April Monthly Medal & Lombard Trophy qualifier
It was Andrew Angelone who managed to top the field in the April Monthly medal. The Daddy "to-be" of Twins also entered the Lombard trophy and will be partnering myself in the regional qualifying Pro Am at Sandiway Golf Club on Tuesday 27th June. The winning pro am pairing will be jetted off to Portugal for an allexpenses paid trip of a lifetime. I look forward to it Andy, get practicing.
In division 1 in the April Monthly Medal was won by Gareth Chadwick who managed a 75 - 9 = 66 nett. That score was also matched in division 3 by Mick Toms who carded 86 - 20 = 66 nett.
The art of Club fitting, to its ultimate accuracy.
I was approached by a great friend and Stamford member Eric Nield for a club fitting not so long ago. Eric spent some time trying the new equipment when between us, we came up with a recommended set of clubs, which resulted in PERFECTION.
