Captains v Presidents
Heavy snow fall at the later end of the week last week caused problems on the golf course. The scheduled shop competition on Saturday morning - 14th January and the traditional Captains v's Presidents in the afternoon was cancelled. A rescheduled date for this has been confirmed for Saturday 28th January, where any members wishing to play will have to put their name down again. The existing start sheet will be scrapped.
Winter League - week 8
Sunday was eventful to say the least. Well it began early doors for me taking 18 flags out at 07:00 in the morning, no daylight, snow still present on the greens made a tough challenge to find the hole. Nevertheless, all 18 flags were distributed and week 8 of the winter league was a success. Albeit only 15 competitors took part, the other half of the field felt the more sensible option was to golf in the indoor facility playing the Belfry.
Not for one minute did I expect to close the competition in the evening and be checking a card totalling 44 points. Alan Hood managed to clear the 14 competitors who braved the elements by 3 clear points. Regan Glaister managed to edge Steve Finan out by card playoff for second place. All three players collecting some valuable points for the winter league, gaining good ground on the league leader Steve Moores who now stands on 307 points.
A superb suggestion from Eric Nield was to introduce a leader's Jersey... and why not make it yellow. It took some finding, but in Sunderland of Scotland, I found just the number. Delivered inside 2 days and away we go. Sponsored by Elecrica Ltd, both myself and every competitor are grateful of the support from Eric Nield, what a marvellous addition to a thriving competition.
It's an exciting time of the year, leading manufacturers are developing products every day and this is the time of year they get launched.
This week we have received TaylorMade M1 & M2 woods and irons for fitting.
The TaylorMade M1 retailing at just the mere £429.95 boasts multi-material construction to offer added yardage and total personalisation.
The TaylorMade M2 looks identical, with the same Paint work but a better price tag at just £329.00, the difference lies underneath. No adjustable weights, just the new GeoCoustic technology for a new level of distance and added forgiveness.
