Wednesday 18 hole stableford
Chris Exton makes writing the headline a simple procedure this week. He posted 42 points to pip the clubhouse leader Iain Starkie by one point in the Wednesday 18 hole Stableford.
Scoring on the day was favouring the golfer with a considerable amount of reasonable scores returned which reduced the standard scratch to just 67.
July Monthly Medal
The July monthly medal found three worthy divisional winners in somewhat difficult conditions. For most of the day the Rain was relentless with occasional bright spells. There were even strong talks of cancelling the event, but due to the inclement weather we have received so far, and having already lost two events to the rain, handicaps and competitions felt it was necessary to continue play.
Kev Duffy, Brian Thomas & Garry Foster all had the same opinion as H&C as the three divisional winners booked their places in the 2017 Gold medal.
Kev Duffy - 71 - 5 = 66
Brian Thomas 78 - 13 = 65
Garry Foster 85 - 20 = 65

Is it the 'Big Three' or the 'Big Four'?
Just when you thought Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy were all set to divvy up golf's biggest prizes, along comes big-hitting Dustin Johnson. The US champion is now number two in the world and looks to be finally fulfilling his potential after another fine win at the weekend - and a big one too at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. For years Johnson seemed destined to be the bridesmaid, now he's one of the favourites to go back-to-back in Majors and take the Claret Jug back across the Atlantic.
Next week's Open at Royal Troon could be a classic

Let's twist again... Like we did last newsletter.
OK, so that wasn't actually what Chubby Checker sang, but he should've done. Last week I spoke about shoulder turn and talked about a nice rotation stretch as part of a warm up. But what if you are still stiff into rotation despite this?
The 2 diagrams below give you some alternatives. Firstly, lie on your back with your knees bent and just roll your knees side to side.
If this still doesn't feel enough stretch for you, straighten one leg and grab hold of the other one. Use your hand to increase the stretch as shown in the picture. This stretch should be held for 15 seconds.
Doing both will help increase your should turn and could help with distance (and make you legend on the dance floor) What's not to like?
