Hello golfers,
We hope you had a great Easter weekend and hope that you too, feel like the 2016 golfing season is finally here. Let's make 2016 the best year for your golf.
Masters Sweepstake
Some very familiar faces have been re-appearing this week as the best time of the year is just around the corner. In actual fact just five more sleeps until the opening tee shot of the US Masters at Augusta National happens. Will Matthew Fitzpatrick make his presence known on his first visit or will Jason Day carry on his roll of performance and dominate the pack.
Personally my money will be going on Rickie Fowler who is standing currently at 16-1. However, the envelope is sealed, the draw has been made and the boxes need filling on the counter in the Pro Shop. The Masters sweepstake is filling fast for your chance to win many prizes. Call in to the Pro Shop for more details.

Physios Corner
It is with sincere apologies I made an editorial blunder last week writing my newsletter late one evening. I posted week two of one of the physios cure for golfers elbow. I am therefore posting week one of two here. For those who read to the end can make final sense of what Chris has to say for those aches and pains.
Golfers Elbow?
I'll let you into a secret. I've never treated a tennis player with tennis elbow. I've only treated one golfer with golfers elbow, and they had only taken up the sport a few days earlier. I have however seen numerous golfers with tennis elbow. So why are these painful conditions so stupidly named?
The answer lies in the muscles we use for these sports. A tennis player grips the tennis racquet hard during a shot, and that uses the muscles on the outside of the elbow. A golfer grips lightly and uses the muscles on the inside of the elbow during ball strike. Both of these conditions are called overuse injuries or repetitive strain injuries (RSI), so it makes sense that the repetitive nature of these sports would lead to repetitive injuries. But they don't. Why?
Because the truth is that these injuries are caused by a weakness in the muscle and tendon. And tennis players have strong "tennis elbow muscles", while golfers have strong "golfers elbow muscles". Golfers do not tend to have strong "tennis" muscles and are therefore more prone to tennis injuries. The trick then, to avoid these injuries, is to strengthen the muscles we use the least. And let's stop thinking of them as overuse but as under-conditioned.
Next time I will run through some simple exercises that should strengthen and improve the elbow muscles to avoid both of these conditions. If you already have an established elbow problem then come and see me for advice.
