Manchester Alliance - Dunham Forest Trophy
It only seems 4 weeks ago when I hit 3 inches before the ball in a sudden death playoff against Bramhall parks Craig Daggitt, in Stamford's' best efforts to land the Dunham Forest trophy in over a decade.
This coming Sunday is our opening round, and possibly one of the toughest possible. Bramhall Golf Club away, winners of the trophy just 2 years ago and boasting several scratch golfers. Though our men will not quiver under pressure, with youth on our side. Spencer Yates, Kev Duffy, Taylor Yates, Jamie Chadwick, James Kempster (Rookie), Andy Bent & Myself will represent the Stamford Crow on Sunday. Wish us luck, we aim to deliver.
Manchester Alliance - Foursomes
This time Stamford drew Manchester (Hopwood) Golf Club away once again. Team Captain Ian carefully chose his army to face what was always going to be a difficult battle. Wins came from Chris Akers & Steve Finan, the Easter brothers Chris & Phil, Paul Traynor & Iain Starkie, Tony McClusky & Keith Walker and James Hughes & Martin Dwyer. The win will see Stamford through to the next round and fingers crossed this time for a home draw.
Congratulations fellas.

Greens Maintenance Programme
Earlier in the week we did send out an email from the clubs database explaining the Green Keepers intentions, to keep up to date with his Golf Course development programme. John managed to successfully Verti Drain all 19 Greens (including the putting green) followed by a good top dressing. The work is effected by the conditions of which the recent dry conditions suited. Therefore, Wednesday & Thursday we were forced to use Winter Greens, however, as of today (Friday 18th March) the golf course is back to usual, and fully maintained ready to face a busy Summer!
Easter Running Competition
Earlier than usual, Easter is already upon us and that is the first sign of The Masters tournament at Augusta. The daffodils are already showing their faces, and along with them some familiar faces are appearing in the Pro Shop. It's been a long winter… one of the longest I remember, although I do say that every year. The newly invested swing studio has made life a little easier through the difficult months, and I'm hoping it will go from strength to strength as it boasts the finest fitting technology in Britain... FACT! Nowhere offer a more detailed fitting, than right here at Stamford. Anyway, I'm getting away from the headline... next week is the ol' Easter running competition. Now converted to a daily event, there will be a start sheet displayed for both Saturday & Sunday with a roll up format for Friday & Monday.
All four days will consist of optional singles or pairs competitions, so feel free to make arrangements, or we will do our utmost to fix you up with a game.
