Hello golfers,
Mail on Sunday classic
Drawn away at Ashton Golf Club in the second round of the Mail on Sunday, Stamford once again brought home a convincing victory. Only last season we met our noisy neighbours in the Dunham forest trophy. Drawn at home the pressure was on, but the boys stood their ground with a convincing 6-1 win. This time round, the mail on Sunday was drawn away at Ashton and advantage was in their hands. 5 singles matches chosen from a select few golfers varying from a handicap of 5 to 8. It wasn't quite the miracle at Medinah but once again Stamford stood tall and outplayed the locals with a 4-1 victory.
Congratulations gentlemen, good luck in the next round.
Clare Smith
Over recent years and months the Pro Shop is getting increasingly demanding. I am personally struggling to manage the roll of Head Professional and Director of Golf and therefore feel assistance is required in order for me to maximise my potential in my new responsibilities.
It's been a difficult decision to make, but as a family we feel the right decision is for my Wife Clare to help with the services here at Stamford. Clare therefore terminated her contract at work and began working in the pro shop here on Tuesday 1st March. Clare's roll will be to manage all Pro Shop retail duties, so if it isn't in stock and you require an item, see the boss.
This decision will free my time to focus on coaching groups and individuals of all abilities. Help the club work towards achieving Golf Mark and possibly play a little more golf than I have been doing over recent times.
Now that March is here, we're expecting to see a few more faces in and around the club. We're also expecting to see some dusty-looking gear, with tatty golf shoes and bags being two prime examples!
While the rain's been falling and golfers have been hiding away, your pro shop has been a busy place with new equipment arriving in store ready for the new season.
In the shoes market, we have some even sportier models hitting the shelves, as well as upgrades to popular existing models, plus one or two brand-new designs that really grab your attention. If your shoe bag is seeing light for the first time in a few months, and you don't like what you see, pop by the store.
Likewise, there are some fantastic new bags arriving in store right now. Granted, you may not find a new bag as exciting as a new driver, but a good bag is priceless if you want to keep your clubs well looked after. We've also seen demand for fully waterproof bags rise, recently, which is no surprise given the weather in the UK.
If you're coming out of hibernation, or have been meaning to upgrade that bag of yours anyway, come and find out what's new in the store or click here to take a look at some of the latest products.
