Club teams

 The season will very soon be upon us. If any of you eager golfers are keen to get involved amongst the team matches this year, representing your club in home and away matches, then please read on;

A Team Golf

Representing the A team as Captain this year will be Ian Grimsditch (Mr. President). Ian will be selecting his team for each weekly game which will take place most Thursday evenings, both home and away alternating weekly. To qualify to compete amongst the A team golfers, you must possess an active handicap of 12 or less and display your name on the team sheet in the clubhouse or contact Ian Grimsditch.

B Team Golf

The B team handicap sits overlapping that of the A team. If you hold a current handicap of 8 - 18 this will qualify you for the B team. Both team matches (A&B) are played on Thursdays with one team at home and the other playing away. If you fit in this category and have shown any interest, please contact this year's team captain Steve Finan.

Rabbits

The Rabbits are a third team which operate amongst local clubs. The qualifying handicap for this is 14.5 up to 22, although higher handicap golfers may play but must compete off 22. Not always the best quality of golf is played, but taking handicaps into consideration, these guys know how to compete and have fun at the same time. If you would like to be considered for this, please contact Julian Davidson here.

Seniors

Stamford also hold a very active senior section. The seniors meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, competing against local clubs too. You only have to be aged 55 years or older to qualify for this section, with a handicap being irrelevant. Once again, this section are looking to recruit golfers', so if you qualify and you're interested, get in touch.

Captains news

Mr. Captain

I get to write a nice paragraph or so once a year about our captain. This year being Mr. John Sharples who has dedicated himself whole heartedly to a club he holds very close to his heart. Although I am sure John wouldn't deny the fact, he couldn't have worked his way through his season without the help from some very close people. Primarily his Wife Margaret and son Anthony.

As many of you will be reading this, the AGM will be taking place (Friday 26th February) in the clubhouse, signaling the closure of Johns year as Club Captain. A post I'm certain John will cherish for the rest of his years. On behalf of all the Staff of the Golf Club John, you've been a pleasure to work with and thank you for a fantastic year. You did slip up with the weather at the end though

Incoming captain Steve Lennon is excited about his year, with some exciting projects in the pipe-line and SGC on track for a record breaking year. Alongside him will be close friend Ian Grimsditch who will be standing as president for the 2016 season.

The lady captain Mrs. Sheila Bates has touched many hearts with her generous kind heart and dry witty humor. Mrs. Sandra Johnston will be taking the roll of Lady Captain for the second time which I'm certain she will fulfil and enjoy in the process.

Good luck to all club officials in office and a special thanks to those stepping down. 2015 was successful year, here's to 2016!
